Born in Florida in 1964, Michael Harrell discovered his passion for art early in life. He earned a BFA in graphic design from the University of Georgia before launching a successful career as a freelance illustrator. During this time, he worked with major clients like MasterCard, American Express, and Paramount Pictures and had his work exhibited at the prestigious Museum of American Illustration in New York with the Society of Illustrators.
By the early 1990s, however, Harrell shifted his focus entirely to fine art. His paintings quickly gained recognition, leading to exhibitions at the Salmagundi Club of New York, the Philadelphia Watercolor Club, and the North American Marine Arts Society in Gloucester, MA. His masterful technique and eye for detail have also earned him features in American Artist Watercolor Magazine, Artists Sketchbook, and The Artist’s Magazine.
